To celebrate its 1,000th anniversary, London’s Borough Market installed ‘The Real Apple Store’, a set-up inspired by tech giant Apple’s iconic stores, that showcased 1,000 different kinds of real apples.
Working together with communications agency TinMan and events company Teatime Production, The Real Apple Store was also created to coincide with Apple Day, a festival that celebrated the harvest season.
The Borough Market’s usual apple display was transformed into an white-walled ‘Apple’ store that literally stocked real apples, such as “the world’s oldest known apple, Court Pendu Plat” and unique varieties like the “unattractive Knobby Russet”.
Some apples were propped on clear pedestals, much like Apple’s charging docks, while others were featured in a huge wall display. Bite-sized facts about the different types of apples were also included throughout the store.
