Hidden in the hills of Spain is one of the strangest places you’ll ever see. This is right up there with the Venetians living above the Mediterranean, villages in volcanoes, and monasteries atop the Himalayas. This location is directly under a giant rock.
Don’t believe us? Well, grab some crow, because you’re about to eat it.
Found in Setenil de las Bodegas, Spain, this town of 3,000 people is home to some of the best restaurants and bars in all of Europe.
As it’s nestled next to the Rio Trejo River, it’s an ideal place to build a town, as it receives plenty of running water and cool temperatures. Many of the houses are built into and under the walls of the gorge itself.
Modern homes are built into the cave network here. Scientists believe humans have lived here since pre-historic time.
The unique setting is also why tourists flock to the area year round.
You can see something here you can’t see anywhere else.
Let’s hope that you aren’t claustrophobic…
Yikes!
If you ever find yourself in the area, check out their world class delicacies like chorizo, olive oil, honey, jam, and Andalusian wine. It’s also the most unique setting for a town in the world. They’ll really put you between a “rock and a hard place.”
